From Beyoncé to the Moon – the Making of a Great Summer Party Auction

Now that the snow is finally melting and the on again-off again snow flurries have become on-again-off again spring showers, it’s time to start gearing up for GLAD’s Summer Party in Provincetown on Saturday, July 27th.  With Kate Clinton confirmed as our celebrity auctioneer extraordinaire - this is definitely an event you don’t want to miss!

I spent the better half of the winter months poring through our past auction results and survey responses from winners - analyzing which packages were an absolute hit and what new packages we should try to secure for this year.

My auction outreach got a huge boost last month when Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants generously donated 10 (yes ten!) travel packages to amazing LGBT hot spots like San Francisco, Miami, and Aspen.  For those of you looking to get away, these packages will not disappoint.

We are also lining up everything you need to plan a jam-packed trip to Ptown, including accommodations, dinner packages, and gift certificates to many local shops – thanks to Sage Inn and Lounge, Anchor Inn Beach House, Mews Restaurant, and many more. And thanks to Boston Harbor Cruises you can get there in style with two round trip fast ferry tickets.

Sound amazing? I agree. The generosity of our auction donors is truly remarkable. Over the next couple of months, I’ll be reaching out to many more businesses seeking donations that will raise the bar even higher. What new items do you want featured at the 2013 auction? The Summer Party is all about you - our supporters - and I want to know what you are eager to bid on! Send your ideas my way by filling out this SURVEY so that this year’s auction can be bigger and better than ever.

Donations are also GLADly accepted! Donate a week stay at your vacation home? Personal chef services? Behind-the-scenes access to a Broadway show? Beyoncé tickets?!? Sky’s the limit – unless you can get us a suborbital Lynx space plane package from Buzz Aldrin and AXE – in which case the limit is out of this world!
